Director of Children’s Ministry
(Part-Time, ~20hr/wk)
GENERAL STATEMENT:
Saegertown United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Children’s Ministry to join our ministry team. This position will be working with children from infants through sixth grade.
The goal of this position is to facilitate Christian Biblical learning through fun and exciting programs that help children grow in their faith.
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Applicable work experience in leading children’s programs at a church or other institution

Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the work of the church

Experience counseling with children and families is preferred

Must be willing to work Sunday mornings and evenings
- Satisfactory pre-employment background screening is a mandatory condition of Saegertown UMC employment, which includes – The PA Child Abuse History (ACT 33), PA Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), and the FBI Fingerprint Criminal History (ACT 73) clearances.
- Familiar with Saegertown UMC Personnel Manual policies and procedures.
- Familiar with guidelines for the use of Saegertown campus facilities (by internal / external groups).
- CPR / Defibrillator / First Aid certification is required (training can follow position acceptance).
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or an equivalent general education degree (GED) required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and drive an overall vision and mission for ministry to children in our church and community. This plan would provide opportunities in which children develop their understanding of God and their faith, learn about the church and worship, and help them grow in their relationship with Christ.

Develop and implement strategies within Children’s Ministry that support Saegertown UMC’s vision.

Serve as a primary point of connection with church families and visitors that have young children.

Oversee all regular children’s programming including Nursery, Sunday morning children’s classes/programs for all services, Sunday night children’s activities.

Lead the Grow Kids program on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:30 September (after Labor Day) through themiddle of June (before Father’s Day).

Send out handmade monthly cards from the children to the elderly members of the congregation (40 cards).

Research and plan new programming for children. Interface with other appropriate departments to ensure successful implementation and coordination. Work with staff to ensure continuity of church wide ministry programs.

Review, select, and implement curriculum that is both age appropriate but also theologically sound.

Keep updated on new early childhood and elementary school age children training systems and develop,implement, and train those working with children on a regular basis.

Develop and oversee the execution of special events that provide learning through activity and relationships designed to reach the children of our church and community. These events could include but are not limited to: Vacation Bible School, events, seasonal programs, summer camp opportunities, missional engagement opportunities.

Train and manage Children’s Ministry volunteers.

Ensure full compliance with Safe Sanctuary policies. Oversee Act 33 & 34 clearances of all volunteers.

Develop and manage Children’s Ministry budget within parameters established by Finance Committee.

Serve on various committees established for specific church wide events.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Promote children’s ministry through the use of social media.
REMUNERATION:
- 20 hours per week with the flexibility to adjust working hours during week as needed.
- Number of hours will vary depending on the scheduled events and seasonal events.
- Wages-determined annually.

Administrative Assistant
(Part-Time, ~30hr/wk)
GENERAL STATEMENT:
Saegertown United Methodist Church is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team.
The Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our church office throughout the week. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and a heart for serving others. Discretion and confidentiality involving sensitive issues is imperative.
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Previous administrative experience, preferably in a church or non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to the mission and values of Saegertown United Methodist Church.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative support to the pastor, church staff and leadership team.
- Manage church communications, including emails, phone calls, and social media.
- Maintain church records, databases, and filing systems.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, events, and appointments.
- Prepare and distribute church bulletins, newsletters, and other materials.
- Assist with financial record-keeping and budget tracking.
- Greet and assist visitors, members, and volunteers.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.
